How it works

Three steps from "I don't know where to start" to a mentor in your corner

No CVs, no gatekeeping. Pick someone doing the work you want to do, tell them what you need, and start the conversation.

1

Create your profile

Download WiEnergi, choose Job Seeker, Worker or Mentor, and tell us the fields you're interested in. A complete profile gets 3× more matches.

2

Request a mentor

Browse the WiConnect directory, open a mentor's profile and send a request with what you're hoping to learn. They accept, and a private chat opens instantly.

3

Learn live, then act

Join your mentor's hosted sessions, chat in between, rate the experience, and move straight into WiJobs, WiLearn or WiEnterprise when you're ready.

Why it matters

The green economy is hiring. Most people just can't see the door.

South Africa's energy transition is creating jobs faster than the information about how to get them spreads. A mentor closes that gap in one conversation.

STEM4Good

Frequently asked questions

The mentorship programme run by Nepoworx in partnership with Siemens Energy. Anything not covered here — info@nepoworx.com or +27 11 035 7390.

1About the Programme and the App

WiEnergi is a digital platform owned and operated by Nepoworx. For STEM4Good, it is where you register, build your profile, get matched with your mentor or mentee, book and log sessions, and access learning content and programme communications.

STEM4Good is a voluntary, industry-led mentorship and skills-development programme run by Nepoworx in partnership with Siemens Energy. It connects mentees with experienced industry mentors for a twelve-month mentorship cycle.

Mentors are professionals nominated by Siemens Energy (and other Programme Partners). Mentees are learners, students, graduates, and early-career professionals recruited by Nepoworx.

No. Participation is voluntary and non-remunerated. The platform may host both free and paid learning content, but paid content is always optional and clearly marked.

No. The Programme does not constitute employment placement or professional certification, and mentorship outcomes are not guaranteed. Participants who complete the cycle receive a certificate of participation.

2Enrolment and Getting Started

You register on the WiEnergi app on your designated enrolment date. Mentors and mentees each have their own enrolment date, which will be communicated to you beforehand, along with a short window for late enrolments.

A late-enrolment window of about a week follows each enrolment date. If you miss that too, contact Nepoworx — space permitting, you may still be added before matching takes place.

Three things: complete the compliance and confidentiality training, sign your compliance confirmation, and finish your profile. No one may attend a session before their signed confirmation is on record. Siemens Energy mentors must also complete their anti-trust refresher training.

Yes, with written consent from a parent or guardian, which must be submitted before you enrol.

3Profiles, Photos, and Videos

Your name, a professional photograph, and a short bio. Mentor profiles also include a short video in which the mentor explains what they are proficient in, so mentees can get to know them before matching.

Nepoworx arranges photoshoot days — one for mentors (which includes video recording) and one for mentees. Dates are shared in advance and attendance is expected, as the material is used to build your profile.

Yes. You will sign a consent form allowing your photograph and video to be used on your platform profile and in programme communications. They are not used for anything else without your permission.

Yes, you can update your bio and details on the app at any time. To replace your photo or video, contact Nepoworx.

4Matching

Nepoworx matches pairs based on interests, skills, and development goals, with input from Siemens Energy where applicable. All matches are recorded by Nepoworx and confirmed on the app.

You can indicate preferences during registration, and mentee-side preferences are considered, but final matching is done by Nepoworx to balance interests and availability across the whole group.

Tell Nepoworx. Pairs that are not meeting or not working well can be re-matched during the programme — this is normal and not held against anyone.

5Sessions and Calendar Bookings

At least one session per month per pair over the twelve-month running period. Pairs are welcome to meet more often if it suits them.

Sessions are booked in the mentor’s calendar. Mentees book a slot, and the mentor confirms it. Once confirmed, the session counts as scheduled.

Mentors share view access to their mentorship calendar so Nepoworx can confirm that booked sessions are actually taking place as scheduled. Nepoworx only looks at mentorship bookings — it does not manage or edit your calendar.

Nepoworx tracks sessions monthly against mentor calendars. If a pair falls behind, Nepoworx will check in with both sides, help resolve scheduling problems, and re-match the pair if needed.

No. Sessions can be in person or online, whatever works for the pair — what matters is that they happen and are logged.

6What We Can and Cannot Discuss

Professional development and soft skills: career guidance, study and work advice, communication, planning, confidence, and exposure to how the industry works.

Anything confidential, proprietary, or commercially sensitive — for example pricing, customers, suppliers, strategy, or non-public technical information belonging to any employer. This protects you and both organisations, and it is a condition of participation that you signed in your compliance confirmation.

Siemens Energy employees are bound by Business Conduct Guidelines, including strict fair-competition obligations. All Siemens Energy participants complete an anti-trust refresher before taking part, and every participant confirms in writing that they will keep discussions to appropriate topics.

Politely steer it back to professional development, and report the incident to Nepoworx if you are concerned. Raising it early protects everyone.

7Privacy and Your Data

Your data is processed solely for Programme purposes, in line with Nepoworx’s privacy policies and the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). It is not shared with third parties without your consent, except where required by law.

Programme participants and administrators on the WiEnergi platform. Profiles exist to support matching and mentorship, not public browsing.

Records are archived and retained or deleted in accordance with POPIA and Nepoworx’s retention schedule at close-out.

8Shirts, Events, and Extras

Mentors and mentees each receive a branded STEM4Good shirt. Sizes are collected at enrolment and shirts are handed out before the programme launch.

Yes — a launch event, workshops and networking sessions during the year (dates announced on the app), a six-month review, and a closing event where certificates of participation are handed out.

9Help and Technical Support

Nepoworx supports the platform during standard business hours and addresses technical issues within reasonable timeframes. Contact support at info@nepoworx.com or +27 11 035 7390 with a short description of the problem and a screenshot if possible.

Occasionally, for maintenance and updates. Scheduled maintenance is communicated in advance where reasonably practicable. Uninterrupted access is not guaranteed, but issues are resolved as quickly as possible.

Participation is voluntary and you may withdraw at any time by notifying Nepoworx. If you are matched, please let your mentor or mentee know as well so the pair can be closed or re-matched properly.
