Terms of service
Last updated: 31 August 2026
These terms govern your use of the WiEnergi mobile app and the WiMentors website (the "Service"), operated by WiEnergi ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them.
1. Who can use the Service
You must be at least 16 years old. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has consented. You must give accurate information and keep your login details secure; you are responsible for activity on your account.
2. Roles
- Job Seekers and Workers may browse and apply for opportunities, request mentors, join sessions, take WiLearn programmes and take part in discussions.
- Mentors volunteer their time. By choosing the Mentor role you agree that your name, expertise, bio and photo are published in the public mentor directory, and that mentees may rate and review you. Mentoring is not employment and creates no employment, agency or partnership relationship with us.
3. Mentorship conduct
Mentorship on the Service is guidance, not professional, legal, financial or medical advice. Mentors and mentees agree to:
- Be respectful and honest; no harassment, discrimination or hate speech.
- Keep private conversations private unless the other person agrees otherwise.
- Never ask for or offer payment, gifts or favours in exchange for mentorship, job referrals or placements.
- Never request personal financial details, ID numbers or banking information.
- Not record video sessions without the consent of participants.
Report concerns in the app (Help centre) or by emailing safety@wienergi.com. We may suspend or remove any account that breaches these rules.
4. Opportunities and third parties
Jobs, learnerships, bursaries, funding calls and enterprise opportunities are provided by third-party employers, institutions and programmes. We do our best to list accurate information but we do not guarantee any listing, outcome or placement. Applications you submit are shared with the relevant third party, whose own terms then apply. We never charge you to apply for a job.
5. Your content
You own what you post (profile, bio, documents, messages, discussion posts). You grant us a licence to store, display and transmit it as needed to run the Service — for example, showing your mentor profile in the directory or your CV to an employer you applied to. You are responsible for having the right to share what you upload.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use the Service to spam, scrape, impersonate anyone, upload malware, post unlawful content, interfere with other users, or attempt to access data that is not yours.
7. Intellectual property
The WiEnergi and WiMentors names, logos, app and website design and WiLearn course content are ours or our licensors'. You may use them only as part of using the Service.
8. Availability and changes
We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service, and may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
9. Disclaimer and liability
The Service is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by South African law, we exclude all warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for the actions of mentors, mentees, employers or other third parties. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act or POPIA that cannot be excluded.
10. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from the app or via this page. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Disputes will be handled by South African courts.
